RE: Results of My Anti-Virus Bench Testing

Ok... As many of you already know, I've been a successful computer software developer / technician since 1999. The purpose of this study was to end, once and for all, the question I am constantly asked by not only my subscribers, but also my friends and family.
What Anti-Virus / Anti-Spyware is Tops?
With the constant barrage of computer threats that are out there...which pc security software is the best? You know, able to stop all the new threats as they come out. It also must not "bog down" your computer. Some of the security suite programs I tested where so heavy on your system resources, it seems you would be better off dealing with malware, spyware and viruses!
Here's the Deal
Computer security software has to fill a lot of gaps. First off it must be able to tackle all the killer malware, spyware and viruses lurking on the internet now and in the future. It also must be user friendly, let's face it, if 90% of the population doesn't understand how to use it, how can we expect it to keep their computers safe? Finally, it must not hog all of your computer power while it runs in the background protecting it. What good is a safe computer if you can't use it?
The Test
I set up my bench test like this. I had an old windows computer I was not using. It was configured about the same as your ordinary every day work station, not too fast, not too slow about middle of the road performance. I then loaded the top 20 computer threats of 2008 according to techupdate.com including: Conficker, Win32 Netsky, Win32 Scano, Win32 Bagle, Win32 Trojan Downloader, Virtumonde, Zlob, and Mydoom to name a few. Next I installed one at a time, the top 10 anti-virus softwares availible to the public. Each anti-virus software ran and I tallyed the final results. Surprisingly, only 2 anti-virus software were able to even pass the test by deleting every major threat!

I wasn't surprised a bit when PC Tools Internet Security™ came out near the top of my test. PC Tools have been in the Anti-Virus business for years, so one can assume that they know how to do something's correctly.
Well, their 'Internet Security' product managed to find and eliminate every threat that I could throw at it. It found all the security threats on the test computer with my first scan.
I will have to admit that it came in last place in terms of 'speed' when I scanned the hard drive, however I can only attribute that to its 'thoroughness' as PC Tools Internet Security™ along with ParetoLogic Anti-Virus Plus™ where the only two products that managed to find all of the security threats I used for my test.
My Results of the Bench Test...
Another win for PC Tools Internet Security™ is that it includes multiple security software in one security suite. PC Tools Internet Security™ includes anti-virus, anti-spyware and backup software in one package. This is great for novice computer users as the amount of protection you get is hard to beat, however, for the more experienced computer user, gamers, and the hardcore computer 'power users' out there...you will be disappointed with the amount of resources this thing uses. It seems that PC Tools Internet Security™ should come with a disclaimer telling you that you might need to upgrade your processor and buy 2 GBs more ram just to run this software!
The Conclusion?
For the majority of users, I would have to suggest ParetoLogic Anti-Virus Plus™. It's hard not to considering the facts:
